A Time to Choose: The Shining City on the Hill or Narcissistic Dystopia

Ladies and gentlemen we are facing a new turning. G. Michael Hopf stated that hard times create strong men; strong men create good times; good times create weak men; and weak men create hard times. This quote perfectly encapsulates that which is before us. The only thing it fails to capture is that there is a second possible outcome – anarchistic nihilism.

In 2019, this country was prospering in ways previously unimaginable. There were no new wars and peace treaties between long animus countries were brokered. Despite all the protestations from corporate media, our civil liberties were intact and our nation had a safe and secure border. The economy was flourishing as new trade deals righted previous imbalances and manufacturing with good paying jobs were returning to our shores. Inflation was in check and the wages of working class people were rising like never before in our lifetimes.

And then a pandemic was unleashed upon us. A summer of “love” saw working class communities burned to the ground and police departments gutted. Nefarious actors who had gamed these exact scenarios pounced into action and then our election was “fortified.” And here we are today on the brink of world war, our country being invaded by wave after wave of illegal economic refuges, and our economy in shambles with near record levels of inflation and an all time low in consumer confidence.

And worse yet, we brought this all upon ourselves. Woke progressive and Marxist ideologies stemming from the 60’s counter culture revolution were allowed to flourish in our academic and cultural institutions until it infected the entire country. A “war on poverty” led to record numbers of fatherless families. And if that was not bad enough, in 1973, nine people in black robes then determined that even children were disposable. You will know the tree by the fruit that it bears.

Our great nation was founded on a then radical premise that every citizen is a sovereign individual imbued with God given fundamental rights. Our sacred documents declare that all men are created equal with the right to life, liberty, and happiness. That we the people have the right to free speech, the freedom of assembly, the right to freely practice our religion, the right to own and bear arms, the freedom of the press, and the right to petition our government. No other nation in the history of the world has ever declared such a bold proclamation and our country enjoyed divine providence as a result.

And yet these rights have been gradually chipped away at since the 1960’s when we became “enlightened” until the catastrophes of the past two years saw our ruling class oligarchs just deem that we were not worthy of self-agency and they knew better for us. They are saying the quiet part out loud now and they wish for us a great reset where we will own nothing and be happy. We have turned our backs on God and these are the consequences.

It has been famously said that the only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing. Ladies and gentlemen, what have we done? Far too many of us have just attempted to keep our heads down in fear that the mob will turn on us and we will be othered. Unbelievably we have progressed to the point now that people are attacked in broad daylight in the streets and on the subways and people do nothing to stop it.

And who is there to save us? Our feckless leaders that have wrought this down upon us and only engage in kabuki theater for their own power machinations? Our police and law enforcement who have actually deemed us domestic terrorists and actually helped institute previously unimaginable lockdowns? No, there is no cavalry coming.

But the answer is there and it is simple. This is our country… it belongs to us. It is time to stand up and make our voices heard, not to cower in anonymity. Ladies and gentlemen, this country now needs lions not sheep.

There are two paths before us as plain as day. One leads back to God’s graces and that bold embodiment of freedom that shines for the world to see. The other leads to self-inflicted annihilation. But as always freedom is not free. With great rights come great responsibilities. You must act. You must make your voices heard with your friends and families – even at the peril of being deemed deplorable. You must contact your elected representatives, volunteer, vote, and even run for office. It is our country – it is time to take it back.
